The cycling fraternity came out yesterday to pay respect to former national coach Ian Nivet whose funeral was held yesterday at St Finbar’s RC Church, Morne Coco Road, Diego Martin. Nivet passed away on March 27 at the age of 88 but leaves an indelible mark in the sport of cycling.
Rowena Williams, former president of the T&T Cycling Federation, is now the new Racing Secretary of the TTCF.
T&T cyclist Teniel Campbell completed the double yesterday at the Elite Women Caribbean Road Cycling Championships in Martinique, becoming the first female cyclist in the Caribbean to achieve such a feat.
There were thrills and spills on Thursday’s second day of the Elite Pan American Senior Track Cycling Championships at the National Cycling Centre in Balmain Couva, with T&T’s only realistic medal hope Keron Bramble being the centre of a massive spill that saw him being thrown off his bike and into the stands during the Men’s keirin.
Sprint cyclist Nicholas Paul left yesterday for Argyle, Switzerland, for the 2017 track training camp which starts tomorrow. It will be the second stint at the camp hosted by the sport’s go verning body, UCI.
